This title, is the first part devoted  to the combat between Germany and the Soviet Union in 1941.  It describes Stalins offensive plans to attack the 3rd Reich and it's allies and in this way help to better understand the defeat of the Russian army in the first months of the war.   In its 84 pages are 11 colour plates depicting 30 different vehicles used by both Axis and Red Army units.  There are also 53 black and white photos and 4 battle maps.

This volume covers Operation Barbarossa on Polish territory and Western Ukraine from the outbreak on 22 June 1941
until mid July 1941.     There are 100 glossy pages with 93 black and white photographs and 11 colour plates depicting 33
